Any interested members of the public and researchers are welcome at the Burgerbibliothek of Berne and can look at the documents they require in the Hallersaal, our Reading Room. If you are well prepared, and with the help of the staff of the Burgerbibliothek of Berne, your visit here will be successful.
You can find information about opening hours, how to use the collections, reprographic orders and the holdings and collections themselves on the website and in the Online Archive Catalogue. It is advisable to book in advance and order the documents you need before visiting the Reading Room, and for some holdings this is compulsory. Looking at original material is only possible in the Reading Room. Various archives can be consulted digitally (e-codices, Platter, Daguerreobase). The staff in the Reading Room will be happy to help if you have any questions.
